OpenToonz is based on “Toonz” animation software which was originally developed by Digital Video S.p.A. in Italy, customized by Studio Ghibli, and has been used for creating its works for many years. In March 2016 its source code was published under the terms of Modified BSD License. The open-source version is called OpenToonz and developed by international community.

There seems to be no update and no new version has been released since 2020. Is there any plan to resume updates and release a new version in the future?
Can this software be used for videogame drawn animated cutscenes? also do you need to get permission for anything made with this as the license seems to say?
